Níon's Noises! (Vol. 1)
Welcome. People who come to our shows may have noticed the rather eclectic collection of noises we produce. As such, these blog entries attempt to give people an idea of where we're all coming from. I think it's important for a band to have various influences, and not to feel that they have to stick to a single genre all the time. Moreover, if the individual members have different likes and dislikes in the musical world, all the better. This, I feel, is one of The New Wave's greatest strengths. Anyway, here's what I've been listening to lately.
The Tallest Man On Earth – 1904
An artist who should be looked up by any fan of Bob Dylan. The Tallest Man On Earth shares his ability to express so much emotion via his unique singing voice that few can replicate.
Boom Boom Satellites – Lay Your Hands On Me
A song I recently discovered through the anime Kiznaiver. While the show itself isn't particularly good, it was worth checking out just to hear this track in the opening. It's the Kind of song you want to blast at full volume while belting down the motorway at 200 miles an hour, without caring where you end up.
Johnny Cash – Busted
A nice quick song from the man in black. Busted, really captures the message that pervades so many Johnny Cash songs: things are shit, so fuck it.
The Grassroots – Let's Live For Today
A bit of classic folk rock. Its message of staying relaxed, and not worrying too much is one that I'm always fond of, no matter where it turns up.
Napolean XIV – They're coming to take me away
Finally, something a bit off-kilter. It's quite rare for a song to resonate so well with the noises that run around my head. As such, this one is quite close to my heart. See you next week.
